“Thailand” announces D-Day: Completely irrational logic

14. October 2025

The Thai media site “The Nation” reports again today with an irrational logic on the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, announcing that Thailand is on alert as an imminent D-Day is approaching, due to the military exercises, psy-ops actions and the use of fighter jets (of themself): The psy-ops actions, “military exercises” as well as …

Thailand’s government apparently has no control over the military

Thailand’s government apparently has no control over the military

12. October 2025

The longer the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia endures, the more apparent it becomes – through careful observation of Thai media – that the government in Bangkok has effectively lost control over the military. From the earliest days of the hostilities, the Royal Thai Army assumed operational command along the contested border regions. Martial law …

Thai media proud of questionable psyops methods of the Thai military

Thai media proud of questionable psyops methods of the Thai military

11. October 2025

Some things are hard to make up, and last night’s events in the small Cambodian village of Prey Chan are probably one of them. During the day, there were already numerous border crossings by Thai troops, including the use of bulldozers, tear gas and rubber bullets against civilians on Cambodian territory. However, as dusk fell, …

Thai troops escalate border conflict despite peace agreement

Thai troops escalate border conflict despite peace agreement

11. October 2025

In a clear breach of the existing peace and standstill agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, Thai troops have reportedly advanced into disputed Cambodian territory, bulldozing rice paddies and forcibly evicting Cambodian families from homes they have inhabited for decades. Eyewitnesses from Prey Chan, in O’Beichon commune in Ou Chrov district, report that Thai soldiers have …

Background information on Phu Makhuea / Phnom Trap

11. October 2025

Phnom Trap or Phu Makhuea was taken by Thai troops on the grounds that they had allegedly dug up a weapons cache there. However, there is still no evidence of this. Rather, Thai media have published pictures which prove that the top of the mountain Phnom Trap had been under Cambodian control for a very …

Update on the Border Conflict Between Thailand and Cambodia

Update on the Border Conflict Between Thailand and Cambodia

14. August 2025

The ceasefire agreed upon between Thailand and Cambodia has so far held. Nevertheless, the situation remains tense: the land borders between the two countries are still fully closed, while flights continue to operate. In Thailand, several border areas remain under military security measures, which can include curfews and restrictions on movement. The legal situation in …

Who owns the temples from the Thailand/Cambodia border conflict?

29. July 2025

In most cases, the disputed temples in the border conflict belong to the Kingdom of Cambodia according to the only legally valid agreement, as the temples are simply located on Cambodian territory (see below). The temples are also always mentioned in Thai media with the Cambodian name, such as “Prasat Ta Krabey”: “Prasat” is a …

We are currently experiencing some very strange events in the Thai media landscape – following the ceasefire. First, the ceasefire was confirmed by all parties: The actual ceasefire was then reported at the announced time by media from both countries: The only thing that was somewhat striking here was that the Cambodian media tended to …

Siem Reap

Siem Reap

is the city around the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia – the Kingdom of Wonders.

Already the archaeological park covers 163 hectares and houses the remains of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th century. Angkor has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992.

Around Siem Reap, there are also many other temples to discover such as Beng Mealea, Koh Ker or Preah Vihear.

More current attractions such as the temple complexes on Phnom Kulen Mountain, Tonle Sap Lake or the fishing village of Kampong Phlouk also offer many opportunities for discovery. In the heart of Siem Reap you can also visit many museums, smaller and larger pagodas (temples) such as Wat Bo and Wat Damnak.

After a successful day, a visit to Pub Street or one of the many restaurants in Siem Reap is a good idea.
