Background information on Phu Makhuea / Phnom Trap

Phnom Trap or Phu Makhuea was taken by Thai troops on the grounds that they had allegedly dug up a weapons cache there.

However, there is still no evidence of this. Rather, Thai media have published pictures which prove that the top of the mountain Phnom Trap had been under Cambodian control for a very long time and was used for civilian purposes. In this photo, for example, we can see mobile phone equipment of Cambodian telecommunications operators in the background – which was later destroyed by Thai troops (next to a staircase):
