Thai media proud of questionable psyops methods of the Thai military

Some things are hard to make up, and last night’s events in the small Cambodian village of Prey Chan are probably one of them. During the day, there were already numerous border crossings by Thai troops, including the use of bulldozers, tear gas and rubber bullets against civilians on Cambodian territory.

However, as dusk fell, the Thai military decided to drive a large loudspeaker truck to the village border and loudly broadcast “scary noises” and “screams” of people through the night. As a result of this action, many people in the village did indeed flee.

What may initially seem amusing to an uninvolved observer is, however, a frightening new reality for the villagers. What thoughts must have been going through the villagers’ minds when they heard the screams of other people in the middle of the night, knowing that Thai troops were trying to take over the area? Is it the pain-filled screams of the neighbors?
