Hotels and accommodation in Siem Reap

Staying in a modern city

As the main center of Cambodian tourism, Siem Reap offers travelers everything their hearts desire.

In the city center you can find many hotels, restaurants, bars and shopping. A small nightlife has also developed in recent years.

Shopping facilities for western tourists have also improved: there are now occasional supermarkets in Siem Reap that carry many western products.

Good value for money in Siem Reap

In Siem Reap there is a very wide range of hotels and other accommodation options. Starting with a simple homestay, 1 to 5 star hotels and high priced resorts, there are all kinds of accommodation options here. Especially the accommodations in the middle price segment offer a very good price/performance ratio.

Tip: A room with air conditioning in a 2 to 3 star hotel is already sufficient for most requirements. Especially if most of the time is spent outside the hotel anyway.

It should also be noted that the stars are not European hotel stars. Therefore, the information is not comparable.

Many advantages for individual travelers

Also for individual travelers and backpackers who want to stay flexible there are countless offers in Siem Reap. Due to the large number of hotels and accommodations, you can almost always find a free room. Among them also extremely cheap offers for five to ten euros per night.

Laundry is easy with the “Laundry Services” – small laundries that can be found in almost every busy street – and usually much cheaper than in the hotel.

Smaller trips and tours can be done comfortably with cheap TukTuks. Alternatively, a scooter can be rented from some vendors.

Note: The road traffic is different than in Europe and differs completely in some points. Do not rely on right of way rules, normal traffic flow or normal turning habits. It is perfectly normal if there are vehicles constantly coming towards you on the wrong side of the road, other motorcycles squeezing into the gap in front of you or suddenly driving off without a glance at the road.

There is also no compulsory insurance in road traffic. All road users are anxious not to be responsible for any accident, but if it should happen, you as a foreigner will always have to watch out. Therefore, always drive carefully and attentively.

The speed limit within the city is 30km/h for motorcycles and 40km/h for cars.
